Cup of Soup

OS and SoftEng assignments are looming over the horizon.

We had two ball hockey games last night. The first was against a very difficult team, and ended in a 5-5 tie, with the last five goals traded during the final few minutes of the game. The second match ended with a 5-4 victory, but the second half was probably the worst hockey I've played. Two games is rough on the system.

EngScunt starts today. We'll see how much scunting I can squeeze in amidst the assignment work.

So very tired.

On the weekend was Eng Scunt. It was a grand old time, lots of fun, lots of energy, and I still have many phone numbers written on my arms in permanent marker. I impressed a number of people with my useless knowledge of Roman history, and of the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Luckily, the one on my forehead washed off. After three rounds of votes tied, we got jipped from our championship because the other team was "smaller". Bloody hell.

OS was due today, and after a very long night, it got submitted. I am sitting here trying to wake up, so I can go to a job interview, and then begin another long night as we try to finish Soft Eng. I could really use a nap spanning several days.

There's a fun little story brewing on CWD. How's it going to end?

Here I am again, in the labs, late at night. This time, SoftEng is the demon that delays my sleep. Luckily, though, it seems to be going well, and it looks like we may be finished soon. Midnight now, much better than last night's 5:00 in the morning.

It's at times like this that I really wish I could just lie down with a comfy blanket, watch a movie, and eat Oreos. Oh, happy days...

We ranted a bit more to ourselves about our unjust loss in EngScunt. We shall now participate again in the summer, during our work terms, so that we may kick some serious ass and be scunt gods for the following winter, our last term.

Now that the second of the big two assignments is almost complete, I'd like to think I'll get the chance to relax for a day. Then I remember that there's another assignment due Thursday, and then midterms, and interviews, etc, etc, etc. Oh boy.

The only uplifting thought right now is that I have chocolate cake waiting for me at home...

All-nighters suck.

Tonight, I get to play a hockey game against the number one team in the league with zero hours of sleep, unless I catch some before dinner.

Tonight, I will curl up in a warm blanket, watch a movie, and eat some Oreos.

Back at last... It's about time.

This past week has been hellish. On Friday, I went home to Mississauga to celebrate my dear old Dad's 65th birthday. Just before we left, however, our ISP decided to change our IP, which seemed to blow up our proxy. Due to the severity of the midterms that followed, we weren't able to fix it until just now.

Speaking of midterms, our professors are trying to kill us. Really. I had two midterms on Tuesday, and another on Thursday. General consensus after each: Anal rape. Ow, I'm sore.

The ball hockey regular season ended. Unfortunately, the top team in the league was in our group, and I had just pulled an all-nighter, so we really didn't stand a chance. We finished with a 4-1-1 record, enough for 7th place for now. For some unexplained reason, though, they've decided to break the playoffs into brackets of four, so we're already out of the running for a championship. There are too many teams, and not enough games to format it that way. Pooey.

Amidst all this internet outage, and exam torture, I've been going through co-op interviews. Three interviews so far, two of which involve foosball tables. EA never responded, so it seems BC is out of the picture. Sucks to them. I do have an interview with SoftImage in Montreal, though, so that may prove quite the adventure.

All Your Base is all the rave. Last night, at Mongolian Grill, we got the hostess to call our table over the loudspeaker by saying "All your base are belong to us, table for 11!"

For those of you who don't quite understand the "All Your Base" thing, it's from an old video game called Zero Wing that contains what is considered the worst language translation ever. The hilarity of it has caught on so well, that people have been spoofing it all over the place, and even made a rock video.

Ever had one of those days where everything that's wrong with your life just starts screaming for attention?

Every problem with roommates, friends, family, school, work, and any part of my personal life just kept making themselves known and I couldn't get it to stop.

What's worse is when your attempts to fix such problems only seem to aggravate them.

I need a cheerup, and it definitely won't come in the form of two midterms.

Thanks, Terry.
Yes, drinking is fun!

We're in full assignment-mayhem swing. Midterms are finally through, but no relaxing yet.

Campus Rec finally got around to updating the ball hockey stats. We are precariously hanging on to 4th place, the last spot in the top bracket. Unfortunately, the fifth and seventh place teams are one point behind and are yet to play each other, so at least one of them will definitely surpass us. We could end up anywhere between 5th and 10th. Four-team brackets in a 34-team league with only a six-game round robin series is not particularly fair, I don't think. In our case, it means the difference between the first and second brackets. Pooey.

I had an interview for a job in Montreal. The job looks really really cool, but I don't think the interview went particularly well; she asked many tricky technical questions, and it was too early in the morning for me to answer coherently. Oh well, all I can do is wait for the verdict.

She was cute, though... that probably didn't help me any... :)

Today is the last day of February. I never much cared for February.

Yesterday was a good and bad day. The bad was that we were returned our marked OS midterms. Eeek. Not happy. My mark was still a bit above the average, but that average was only a passing grade after they knocked 11 marks off of the test.

The good was that I got an early job offer for my next work term. The job looks pretty good, the environment looks really cool (they have foosball!), and the pay is.... wow... nice. They're my top choice right now, and the only way that can be bested is if the Montreal company decides to overlook the poorly performed interview and give me an offer I can't refuse. Well then, guys, how much do you want me?

While we wait for a response, let's get down and party.
