When Conan O'Brien announced he would tape four episodes of his show in Toronto, I thought it would be a fun little adventure, but I was seriously worried about what kind of cheesy, stereotypical gags we would have to endure. I must say I am quite impressed with the quality of the shows so far. Although I may never understand the appeal of the Masturbating Bear, he seems to have picked up on the Canadian-American rivalry that only seems to exist on the Canadian side of the border. The Space Needle vs CN Tower mud wrestling match was pure gold.

How some people can get so worked up about the comments made by a sock puppet mystifies me.

"Are you a separatist? Maybe you should separate from doughnuts first?" That's gold! How is that not funny?! The day we are no longer allowed to use fat people as the butt-end of jokes is the day humour dies.

Speaking of blowing entertainer's comments out of proportion, one oddity of last Saturday's Coach's Corner shocked me, and it just shows how vital Hockey Night In Canada is to the Canadian culture. Roc MacLean leaned out of camera view to find a picture and left Don Cherry alone on camera for what was maybe 30 seconds.

No Ron MacLean on Coach's Corner; just Cherry, talking to himself. It felt so very wrong I almost fell ill.

Yesterday I mailed my snowman to Florida. It's his first time travelling alone; I hope he makes it OK.

Many a sitcom has jumped the shark, uttered its last canned laughter, and been placed on the shelf as a failed experiment after introducing a baby into the show. Mad About You, Family Ties, and Mork and Mindy all suffered such a fate. Can comic strips suffer the same demise?

Well, let's wait and see. Could this be Sherman's Lagoon's last laugh? Maybe they'll just pull a Married... With Children and sort of cancel the baby idea.
