Things That Make SPU Happy

#214 - Acquiring a new Corrs DVD the morning of release.

#215 - Watching the documentary and concert double-DVD late into the night.

#216 - Andrea Corr wearing an ultra-short skirt in said concert.

#217 - Andrea Corr wearing an ultra-short skirt in said concert. Yes, it's worth a second entry.

Coming Together

I've been camping out in the new digs (no, really; I have an air mattress, a sleeping bag, and a camp chair) while I work on turning the place from a condo into a home for SPU.

My mother has provided kitchen needs, and one of my cousins has assisted in the arduous task of running coaxial cable through mysteriously built walls, but otherwise it's just been me and my dad working every spare hour of the past five days (which hasn't proportionately been a lot, but still many hours) masking, priming, and painting away. In some sappy way, that seems perfectly fitting to me. The man that started with little, and worked hard but quietly to support and raise his family, is now working again to get his only son started off on a life of his own.

This is one of those moments that I know I'll be very glad to have had twenty years down the road, so I'm making sure to be glad about it now.

4 Days

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you

I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you

The boys of the NYPD choir
Stood singing Galweh Bay
And the bells are ringing out
For Christmas Day

3 Days

And the Grinch with his Grinch feet Ice cold in the snow
Stood puzzling and puzzling, How could it be so?
It came without ribbons!
It came without tags!
It came without packages, boxes, or bags!

And he puzzled and puzzled 'til his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.
Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store...
Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more...

2 Days

We waited all through the year
for the day to appear
when we could be together in harmony

You know the time will come
peace on earth for everyone
and we can live forever in a world where we are free
let it shine for you and me

There's something about Christmas time
something about Christmas time
that makes you wish it was Christmas everyday

To see the joy in the children's eyes
the way that the old folks smile
says that Christmas will never go away

It's 2:00 in the morning and I'm doing my grocery shopping. Welcome to downtown.

1 Day

Children carry through the streets
A brilliant painted star
Angels gather 'round the hearth
Strumming on guitars
Men of great renown and faith
Say prayers on boulevards
It's the night before christmas

But you don't have to be an angel
To sing harmony
And you don't have to be a child
To love the mystery
And you don't have to be a wise man
On bended knee
The heart of this christmas is in you and me

Merry Christmas

O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight

For Christ is born of Mary
And gathered all above
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love
O morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God the King
And Peace to men on earth

Merry Christmas everyone, and God bless.
